As the Son of God, Jesus identifies Himself as one of the original beings, created by God for the purpose of serving mankind. This is what Adam was when he was first created. In order to fulfill his call to save the world he had to start from the same position Adam had in the beginning.
When debating with the Pharisees about their claims of Him usurping God’s position, He simply stated, “You say that I blaspheme because I say I am God’s Son.” He was making it quite clear that He was keeping His Father’s word and that this alone was proof enough for His claims. For if Adam had kept God’s word to him, he would not have fallen and lost his title.
Jesus kept His title as a result of the obedience He had even in the midst of His suffering for our unrighteousness. As the Son of God He was able to exercise all the authority available from God to carry out His claim to seek and to save the lost and transferring His title to all those who would come to believe His testimony and follow His truth.
