“But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”
Matthew 12:36+37
We are all witnesses of something. We are either witnessing God and revealing His truth to the world around us or we are accusers spreading deception.
It’s not hard to see what’s wrong with the world, but it takes a pure heart to see God. “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.”
Throughout our day we are all witnessing various sets of circumstances and actions produced by others, including our own. How we convey these matters defines where we stand. If I am a child of God, I will be shedding light on and revealing the love of God and the message of salvation at work in those around me. If I am a child of the devil, I will be found slandering, accusing and judging those around me.
Our own words will convict us when we stand before God. “The measure you use will be used against you.” In the light of His perfect Love we will see our true nature. Every idle word will be accounted for.
Thus it is imperative that we find salvation in Jesus, so that we can become children of God and so let our light shine before men that they may be saved. No amount of judgement and punishment will bring people closer to God’s heart. It will only serve to drive them deeper into sin and death.
“Or despisest thou the riches of His goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?”
Romans 2:4
